Types of receptors are 

  • Phono-receptors: These are present in the inner ear and the main functions are hearing and balance of the body.
  • Photo-receptors: These are present in the eye and the main function is the responsibility for visual stimulus.
  • Thermo-receptors: These are present in the skin and are responsible for pain, touch and heat stimuli.
  • Olfactory-receptors: These are present in the nose and responsible for detecting the smell.
  • Gustatory-receptors: These are present in the tongue and helps in taste detection.
