A mail merge is a way to take data from a structured data, database, and spreadsheet, and insert it into documents such as mailing labels, letters, and name tags.

It generally needs two files, one to store the variable data to be inserted, and the other to contain both the instructions for formatting the variable data and the information which will be identical across each result of the mail merge.
