In a given coordinate, abscissa is the distance of a point from y axis and ordinate is the distance of a point from the x axis. For instance, in the coordinate (4,5), 4 is the abscissa and 5 is the ordinate. In this, 4 is the distance of the point from the x axis and 5 is the distance of the point from the y axis.
