 Absolute refractive index-

Refractive index of the medium with respect to air or vacuum is called Absolute Refractive Index

So, the Absolute Refractive index of a medium is defined as the factor by which the speed of light reduces as compared to the speed of light in vacuum.

and it is given as

    \mu=\frac{c}{v}=\frac{\text { speed of light in vacuum }}{\text { speed of light in medium }}
