Equivalent weight = Atomic weight/ valency.

The given metal is divalent , so valency is 2.

given equivalent weight is 12.

let us assume Atomic weight of metal to be x.

so,

Atomic weight = Equivalent weight × valency.

x = 12 × 2

x = 24.

Atomic weight of metal (x) = 24.
