Solar cell is a device which converts solar energy into electrical
energy

Working
When solar radiation falls on a solar cell three important
phenomena occur

 (i) Generation of electron-hole pair due to light close to the junction, The energy of light > E_{g}

(ii) Separation of electrons to n side and hole to P side due to the electric field in the depletion region.

(iii) Collection; electrons reaching n side is collected by front contact and the holes reaching P side are collected by back contact.
