To be or not to be is a phrase from  William Shakespeare's play Hamlet. It means whether one should live or die. In it the actor of the play was thinking about death and suicide. Everyone has to die then why live, for whom, how should one live, why should one live? Living is difficult, it takes hardworking,  it is painful then why should one live, death seems better.
