During Non-Cooperation movement Chauri-Chaura incident took place on 4 February 1922 at Chauri-Chaura in the Gorakhpur district of United Provinces in British India. In this incident the demonstrators attacked and set fire a police station. The incident led to the death of three civilians and 22 police men. After this incident of violence, Gandhi ji helted the Non-Cooperation movement on 12 February 1922.
