The Mauryan empire began to decline after the death of Samraat Ashoka. The last emperor of Mauryan empire Brahdratha was very weak king and it was one of the reasons for the decline of Mauryan empire. Other reasons were following- 

1- Foreign policy 

2- Religious policy of                      Samraat   Ashoka 

3- Internal Revolts 

4- Oppressive Rule in                     Provinces.
