Sexual type of reproduction takes place in a Coconut tree. Coconut tree develops male and female flowers. They mature at different times to avoid self-pollination. Two types of flowers can be distinguished by size as female flowers are larger. Each coconut tree has a part called crown in which flower pods of coconut grows. It bears both the male and female flowers which are huge and it attracts many insects which act as agent of pollination. The male flowers open up first whereas the female flower opens after the male flower opens up. As soon as the female flower opens up, it is pollinated by the insects and thus leads to the development of mature coconut after six months.
