Why do dogs pant with their tongues sticking out? is it because the production of saliva cools their body or something else?

Dogs pant with their tongues sticking out because it helps them to regulate their body temperature via evaporating cooling from the tongue. It is because dogs don't sweat like humans. By panting and ticking their tongue out they circulate the necessary air through the body and regulate their body temperature.
