The producers form the base of every food chain the consumers are directly or indirectly dependent on the produces to obtain food. Food is the basic source of energy for the living organism t survive and carry out the life process. Producers produce their own food by the process of photosynthesis and leave the remaining food to be utilized by the higher-level organisms of the food chain. Hence we can say that all the organisms are dependent on photosynthesis to carry out their life processes.
