Allahabad pillar inscription is also known as 'Prayag Prashasti'. Allahabad pillar inscription is attributed to the Gupta emperor Samudragupta of 4th century CE. This inscription composed by Samudragupta's courtier hHarishena. It suggests that he defeated several kings of Northern India, and annexed their territories to his empire.
