From the above figure,

Be\rightarrow Earth's magnetic field

\theta \rightarrow Angle of dip

V \rightarrow Verticle component of Earth's magnetic field

H\rightarrow The horizontal component of Earth's magnetic field.

Now, resolving to be along horizontal and vertical direction we get,

\cos \theta =\frac{H}{B_e}\Rightarrow H=Be\cos \theta
