A condenser of 2 \mu \mathrm{F} capacitance is charged steadily from 0 \: to \: 5 \mathrm{C}. Which of the following graph represents correctly the variation of potential difference (\mathrm{V}) across it's plates with respect to the charge \mathrm{(Q)} on the condenser ?

Option: 1

Option: 2

Option: 3

Option: 4

best_answer

\mathrm{ C=\frac{Q}{V}=\text { constant } }
The ratio \mathrm{\left(\frac{Q}{v}\right)} is constant for a given material in the gap of capacitor plates and  for a given geometry.
\mathrm{ \therefore \frac{V}{Q}=\text { constant }=\frac{1}{C}=\frac{10^6}{2} }
The above relation holds fore for option (1)

Hence (1) is correct option.
