Let x be the fraction of volume immersed in first case and y the fraction in second case.

Then the first case, w=upthrust

or V \rho_{b}g=(x V) \rho_{l }g \text { or } x=\frac{\rho_b}{\rho_l}          ..(1)

In second case,

Upthrust - Weight = mass x acceleration

(y v) \mathrm{P_{l}}(g+r / 3)-\left(V P_b\right) g=\left(V P_b\right)\left(\frac{g}{3}\right)

y=\frac{P_b}{P_l}       ....(2)

From equations (1) and (2)

x = y

fraction does not change.
