As we have learnt,

\mathrm{Fe}^{2+} salts are green in colour. Upon reaction with \mathrm{H_2S} in alkaline medium, it forms a black precipitate of \mathrm{FeS} which dissolves upon addition of \mathrm{HCl}.

It is to be noted that the precipitation does not take place in acidic solution because the \mathrm{[S]^{2-}} is not sufficient to cause precipitation.

Hence, the correct answer is Option (2)
