A transformer operating at primary voltage 8 \mathrm{kV} and secondary voltage 160 \mathrm{~V} serves a load of 80 \mathrm{~kW}. Assuming the transformer to be ideal with purely resistive load and working on unity power factor, the loads in the primary and secondary circuit would be

Option: 1

800 \Omega$ and $1.06 \Omega

Option: 2

10 \Omega$ and $500 \Omega

Option: 3

800 \Omega$ and $0.32 \Omega

Option: 4

1.06 \Omega$ and $500 \Omega

Answers (1)

best_answer

\mathrm{V_p =8000 \mathrm{~V} }

\mathrm{V_s =160 \mathrm{~V} }

\mathrm{p =\frac{V_s^2}{R_s}=80 \mathrm{~kW} }

\mathrm{ \frac{160 \times 160}{R_s}=80 \times 10^3 }

\mathrm{R_s =320 \times 10^{-3} \Omega }

\mathrm{=0.32 \Omega}

Hence 3 is correct option.
