An organ pipe, open from both ends produces 5 beats per second when vibratiel with a source of frequency 200 Hz in its fundamental mode . The second harmonic of the same pipe produce 10 beats per second with a source of frequency 420 Hz. The fundamental frequency of pipe is-

Initially, number of beats per second = 5

Frequency of pipe =200 \pm 5=195 \mathrm{~Hz} \text { or } 205 \mathrm{~Hz} ----------(1)

Frequency of second harmonic pipe=2n and

Number of beats in this case= 10

\begin{gathered} 2 n=420 \pm 10 \\ 410 \mathrm{~Hz} \text { or } 430 \mathrm{~Hz} \\ n=205 \mathrm{~Hz} \text { or } 215 \mathrm{hz} . \end{gathered}-------(2)

from equation (1) & (2) , it is clear that

\mathrm{n=205 Hz}
