\mathrm{B_{X}} and \mathrm{ B_{Y}} are the magnetic fields at the centre of two coils \mathrm{ X} and \mathrm{ Y}respectively each carrying equal current. If coil \mathrm{ X} has \mathrm{ 200} turns and \mathrm{ 20 \mathrm{~cm}} radius and coil \mathrm{Y} has \mathrm{400 } turns and \mathrm{ 20 \mathrm{~cm} } radius, the ratio of \mathrm{ B_{X}} and \mathrm{B_{Y}} is :

Option: 1

1: 1

Option: 2

1: 2

Option: 3

2: 1

Option: 4

4: 1

Answers (1)

best_answer

\mathrm{B_x =\frac{\mu_0 n_x i}{2 r_x} }

\mathrm{B_y =\frac{\mu_0 n_y i}{2 r_y} }

\mathrm{\frac{B_x}{B_y} =\frac{n_x}{r_x} \times \frac{r_y}{n_y} }

      \mathrm{=\frac{200}{20} \times \frac{20}{400} }

\mathrm{\frac{B_x}{B_y} =\frac{1}{2}}

Hence (2) is correct option.
