 As we learnt in

Chlorides of Berryllium and aluminium -

Both have Cl^{-} bridged chloride structure in vapour phase, soluble in oragnic solvents and are strong lewis acids

- wherein

They are used as friedel craft catalysts

In Solid state, BeClhas a ploymeric chain structure. The structure is formed because of electron deficient nature of BeCl. The Be atom is surrounded by four Cl atoms in tetrahedral shape, two bounded by covalent bonds and two other by coordinate bonds.

Option 1)

Polymer

This option is correct

Option 2)

Dimer

This option is incorrect

Option 3)

Monomer

This option is incorrect
