As we learnt

Test of Aluminum Ion -

Al(OH)_3 is   amphoteric which dissloved in NaOH

Al(OH)_3 + OH^{-} \rightarrow [Al(OH)_4]^{-}

[Al(OH)_4]^{-} on reaction with NH_4Cl gives white Al(OH)_3

[Al(OH)_4]^{-} + NH^{+}_{4} \rightarrow Al(OH)_3 + NH_3 \:(White)

- wherein

white gelatinous Al(OH)_3 \:Confirm \: the\: Al^{3+}

Al(OH)_3 is   amphoteric which dissloved in NaOH

Al(OH)_3 + NaOH \rightarrow [Al(OH)_4]^{-}

Hence, Al(OH)_3 \: \: and\: \: Fe(OH)_3 can be separated by NaOH
