Succinic acid forms the 5-membered cyclic anhydride as shown

 

Adipic acid on the other hand does not form the anhydride which would have been 7 membered ring. Instead, it undergoes loss of CO2 as well as H2O to form a cyclic ketone as shown

 

So, P is an anhydride while Q is a cyclic ketone

The correct option is 2
