Given below are two statements :
Statement-I: A point charge is brought into an electric field. The value of the electric field at a point near the charge may increase if the charge is positive.

Statement II: An electric dipole is placed in a non-uniform electric field. The net electric force on the dipole will not be zero.
Choose the correct answer from the options given below :

Option: 1

Both statement-I and statement-II are true.

Option: 2

Both statement-I and statement-II are false.

Option: 3

Statement-I is true but statement-II is false.

Option: 4

Statement-I is false but statement-II is true.

For both positive/negative charges, near the charge, the electric field lines density increases therefore field near the charges increases

In a non-uniform electric field, the force on positive and negative charges will be different so the net force is not equal to zero.

Hence the correct option is 1
