Given below are two statements:
Statement I : A uniform wire of resistance 80 \Omega is cut into four equal parts. These parts are now connected in parallel. The equivalent resistance of the combination will be 5 \Omega.

Statement II: Two resistances 2 \mathrm{R}$ and $3 \mathrm{R} are connected in parallel in a electric circuit. The value of thermal energy developed in \mathrm{3 R\: and \: 2 R} will be in the ratio 3: 2.
In the light of the above statements, choose the most appropriate answer from the option given below

Option: 1

Both statement I and statement II are correct

Option: 2

Both statement I and statement II are incorrect

Option: 3

Statement I is correct but statement II is incorrect

Option: 4

Statement I is incorrect but statement II is correct

Answers (1)

Statement 1:

Resistance of each part =\frac{80}{4}

                                    =20\Omega

\mathrm{R_{eq}=\frac{R}{4}}

         \mathrm{=5\Omega }

The equivalent resistance of the combination will be \mathrm{5\Omega }

Statement 2:

\mathrm{I_1(2 R)=I_2(3 R) } \mathrm{(parallel \: connection)}

\mathrm{\frac{I_1}{I_2}=\frac{3}{2} \quad ; \quad \frac{H_1}{H_2}=\frac{I_1^2(2 R) t}{I_2^2(3 R) t}=\frac{3}{2}}

Both statement I & II are correct

Hence 1 is correct option.
