Statement I : In \mathrm{ \mathrm{Cl}_{2}} molecule the covalent radius is double of the atomic radius of chlorine.
Statement II : Radius of anionic species is always greater than their parent atomic radius.
Choose the most appropriate answer from options given below :

Option: 1

Both Statement I and Statement II are correct.

Option: 2

Both Statement I and Statement II are incorrect.

Option: 3

Statement I is correct but Statement II is incorrect.

Option: 4

Size of anion is always greater than Size of parent atom as Zeff decreases.

Covalent Radii is little less than the atomic Radii of \mathrm{Cl} because while formation of covalent bond atoms overlap hence interatomic distances decreases in a covalent bond.

Hence, the correct answer is Option(4).
