Atomic number (z) = number of protons in the nucleus of an atom

Mass number (A) = sum of neutrons and protons in the nucleus

Isotopes = Atoms having the same atomic number but a different mass number.

Isobars = Atoms with same mass number but different atomic number

As we have learnt,

The atomic number of any element is equal to the total number of electrons or protons. Now, X2- has 56 electrons, thus, X element has 54 electrons. Therefore, its atomic number is 54.
