Use v=\sqrt{\frac{T}{M}}  

Calculate T by hook's Law 

on streching M also changes put in eqn

 

 

Velocity of transverse wave using sonometer -

v= n_{0}\lambda

= 2\: n_{0}\left ( l_{2} -l_{1}\right )

where   \frac{\lambda }{2}= l_{2}-l_{1}

l_{2}\: and \: l_{1} are the two successive resonance length.
