A string of length 2L obey Hook's Law, is streched so that extension is L. The speed of trasverse wave travelling on the string is V. If string further streached  its becomes 4L. The speed of wave on string will be

  • Option 1)

    \frac{1}{\sqrt{2}} V

  • Option 2)

    \sqrt2 V

  • Option 3)

Use v=\sqrt{\frac{T}{M}}

Calculate T by hook's Law

on streching M also changes put in eqn

Velocity of transverse wave using sonometer -

v= n_{0}\lambda

= 2\: n_{0}\left ( l_{2} -l_{1}\right )

- wherein

where   \frac{\lambda }{2}= l_{2}-l_{1}

l_{2}\: and \: l_{1} are the two successive resonance length.

Option 1)

\frac{1}{\sqrt{2}} V

This is incorrect

Option 2)

\sqrt2 V

This is incorrect

Option 3)

\frac{1}{}2 V

This is incorrect

Option 4)
