Given that,

There are 9 examination papers.

So, there are 9! Ways for 9 examination papers.

If the top and the lowest mark papers never appear together, then the number of ways is given by,

8!\times 2

Thus, the total number of ways is,

9!- 8!\times 2 = 362880-80640\\

9!- 8!\times 2 = 282240

Therefore, the number of ways in which the examination papers are arranged is 282240.
