 Let E be emf of the battery

Work done by the battery  W =CE2

Energy stored in the capacitor U= \frac{1}{2}CE^{2}

\therefore \: \: \: \frac{U}{W}= \frac{\frac{1}{2}CE^{2}}{CE^{2}}= \frac{1}{2}
