As we learned

Vant Hoff factor for dissociation -

i=1-\alpha +\frac{\alpha }{n}

n= number of particles associated

\alpha = degree of association

e.g. Carboxylic acid dimerized in non polar solvents like Hexane.

- wherein

n = 2 for dimerization

n = 3 for trimerization

vont's\: Hoff\: factor\: (i)=\frac{experimental\: C.P}{calculated\: C.P}

=1-\alpha +x\alpha +y\alpha

for KCl it is = 2 and for sugar it is equal to 1.
