A stone is thrown at a spedd of 19.6 m/s along horizontal direction from a tower of hieght 490 m. The distance from the foot of the tower to the point where stone hits the ground is

As we have learnt,

 

Projectile Projected Horizontally -

R= u .\sqrt{\frac{2h}{g}}
 

- wherein

R= Range of projectile

u= horizontal velocity of projection from height h

 

 

Time taken to reach ground = \sqrt{\frac{2h}{g}} = \sqrt{\frac{2\times490}{9.8}} = 10 sec

Horizontal distance = 4xt = 19.6 x 10 m = 196 m
