In two different experiments, an object of mass 5 \mathrm{~kg} moving with a speed of 25 \mathrm{~ms}^{-1} hits two different walls and comes to rest within (i) 3 second, (ii) 5 seconds, respectively. Choose the correct option out of the following :

Option: 1

Impulse and average force acting on the object will be same for both the cases.

Option: 2

Impulse will be same for both the cases but the average force will be different.

Option: 3

Average force will be same for both the cases but the impulse will be different.

Option: 4

Average force and impulse will be different for both the cases.

best_answer

\mathrm{Impulse =\overline{P_f}-\overline{P_i}=\Delta \overline{P}}

\mathrm{Avg. Force =\frac{\Delta \bar{P}}{\Delta t}=\frac{\text { Impulse }}{\Delta t}}

Impulse is same in both the case as the change in momentum is same in both the case but average force is different as the time is different .

Hence 2 is correct option.
