- wherein

L - Length of wire

l - increase in length

 

 w \propto R^2

\therefore \frac{w_1}{w_2}=\frac{R^2}{3R^2} =\frac{R^2}{9R^2}=1:9

\frac{w_1}{w_2}=1:9
