Kinetic energy -

k= \frac{p^{2}}{2m}

- wherein

p\rightarrow momentum

m\rightarrow mass

kinetic Energy is frame dependent

 

 Mass of two piece are \frac{m}{3}\:and\:\frac{2m}{3}

mv=\frac{m}{3}\times 0+\frac{2m}{3}v'

mv=\frac{2m}{3}v'

\Rightarrow v'=\frac{3v}{2}
