The principle of column chromatography is:
Gravitational force
Capillary action
Differential absorption of the substances on the solid phase.
Differential adsorption of the substances on the solid phase.
The main principle involved in column chromatography is adsorption of
the solutes of a solution through a stationary phase & separates the
mixture into individual components. This is based on the affinity towards
the mobile phase & stationary phase.
option (4) is correct.
Gravitational force
Option 2)Capillary action
Option 3)Differential absorption of the substances on the solid phase.
Option 4)Differential adsorption of the substances on the solid phase.

Column chromatography is a types of chromatography commonly used for the isolation or purification of the solutes. Column chromatography has two phases in which the mobile phase is liquid and solid stationary phase is used, mobile phase and stationary phase. Solute adsorption through a solid stationary phase isolates the mixture into its component, which relies on the affinity between the stationary phase and the mobile phase. Molecules that have low affinity toward the silica they eluted rapidly while the molecules that have a higher affinity are strongly retained.
