Three sound waves of equal amplitudes have frequencies \left ( \upsilon -1 \right ),\upsilon ,\left ( \upsilon +1 \right ), They superpose to give beats. The number of beats produced per second will be

  • Option 1)

Answers (1)

As we learnt in

Beat Frequency -

\Delta \nu = \left | \nu _{1}-\nu _{2} \right |

module of \left ( \nu _{1} -\nu _{2}\right )

- wherein

Where \nu _{1} \: and\: \nu _{2} are frequency of two wave differ slightly  in value of frequency.

Beat frequency in this case is equal to difference of maximum frequency and minimum frequency.

Hence, beat frequency = (\nu+1)-(\nu-1)=2

Correct option is 3.
