An emf is induced in the coil or the circuit which oppose the change that causes it. Which is also known back  emf.

I = I_{o} . e ^{-\frac{t}{RC}} -------- 1

I_{o} = \frac{E}{R}

In b)

I = I_{o} . (1 - e ^{- \frac{tR}{L}}) -------- 2
