Wavelength of sound waves in the first medium

\lambda=\frac{v}{n}                          ----------------(1)

Wavelength of sound waves in the second medium
\lambda^{\prime}=\frac{4 v}{n^{\prime}}                       ----------------(2)

As the frequency of the wave remains unchanged with the change in medium

\therefore n=n^{\prime}

Divide (2) by (1) we get

\frac{\lambda^\prime}{\lambda}=4 \\

 or  \lambda^{\prime}=4 \lambda
