As we learned,

 

Field line do not exist inside a conductor -

E = 0

The field is zero inside a conductor and hence lines of force cannot exist inside it. Also, due to induced charges on its surface the field is distorted close to its surface and a line of force must deviate near the surface outside the sphere.
