Given the reaction between 2 gases represented by A2 and B2 to give the compound AB(g).

A2(g) + B2(g) \rightleftharpoons 2 AB(g).

At equilibrium, the concentration

of A2 = 3.0 x 10-3 M

of B2 = 4.2 x 10-3 M

of AB = 2.8 x 10-3 M

If the reaction takes place in a sealed vessel at 527oC, then the value of Kc will be:

  • Option 1)

    1.9

  • Option 2)

    0.62

  • Option 3)

    4.5

  • Option 4)

    2.0

Answers (1)

As learnt in

A_{2}(g)+B_{2}(g)\rightleftharpoons 2AB(g)

K_{C}= \frac{[AB]^{2}}{[A_{2}]\:[B_{2}]}

[AB]=2.8 \times 10^{-3}M

[A_{2}]=3 \times 10^{-3}M

[B_{2}]=4.2 \times 10^{-3}M

K_{C}=\frac{(2.8 \times 10^{-3})^{2}}{(3 \times 10^{-3})\:(4.2 \times 10^{-3})}

\frac{7.84}{12.6}=0.62

Option 1)

1.9

This option is incorrect.

Option 2)

0.62

This option is correct.

Option 3)

4.5

This option is incorrect.

Option 4)

2.0

This option is incorrect.
