If the electron in the hydrogen atoms is excited to n = 5 state, the number of frequencies present in the radiation emitted is:

  • Option 1)

    4

  • Option 2)

    5

  • Option 3)

    8

  • Option 4)

    10

Answers (1)

Orbital Frequency of electron -

f= \frac{mz^{2}e^{4}}{4\epsilon_{0}^{2}n^{3}h^{3}}

- wherein

f\alpha \frac{Z^{2}}{h^{3}}

 Number of frequency emitted from nth orbital is

 \frac{n(n-1))}{2}

\because n=5

=> number of frequency emitted  =\frac{5\times 4}{2}

=10
