Photo electric effect supports the quantum nature of light because:

  • Option 1)

there is a minimum frequency of light below which no photo electrons are emitted

  • Option 2)

the maximum K.E. of photoelectrons depends only on the frequency of light and not on its intensity

  • Option 3)

even when the metal surface is faintly illuminated by light of the approximate wavelength, the photo electrons leave the surface immediately.

  • Option 4)

electric charge of photoelectrons is quantized.

As we discussed in concept

Photoelectric Effect -

It is the emission of electrons (photoelectron) when light strikes a surface.

- wherein

X-rays ,\gamma-rays ,UV -rays ,visible light and even infra red rays of suitable frequency.

According to wave theory, energy depends on intensity, but in photoelectric effect, photo electron leave the surface immediately, even when the metal surface is faintly illuminated by light of appropriate wavelength, hence this could be explained only by quantum nature of light.

Option 1)

there is a minimum frequency of light below which no photo electrons are emitted

This option is incorrect.

Option 2)

the maximum K.E. of photoelectrons depends only on the frequency of light and not on its intensity

This option is incorrect.

Option 3)

even when the metal surface is faintly illuminated by light of the approximate wavelength, the photo electrons leave the surface immediately.

This option is correct.

Option 4)

electric charge of photoelectrons is quantized.

This option is incorrect.
