If \frac{7}{8} th is disintegrated it means only \frac{1}{8} part is radioactive active no. of nuclears after ‘n’ half lives

\begin{aligned} & \Rightarrow \frac{N_0}{2^n}=\frac{N_0}{8} \\ & 2^n=8=n=3 \end{aligned}

So, the elapsed is 3 half lives = 3T
