Instantaneous rate of a reaction:
Rate of reaction at a particular instant is called Instantaneous rate of a reaction. For a reaction
\mathrm{ A \longrightarrow B }

\mathrm{ R_{\text {instantaneous }}=\lim _{\Delta t \rightarrow 0}\left(\frac{\Delta C}{\Delta t}\right)=\frac{d C}{d t}}

In terms of reactant $\mathrm{A}$ :
\mathrm{R_{\text {instantaneous }}=-\frac{d[A]}{d t}}
Negative sign indicates decrease in the reactant's concentration.
In terms of product B :
\mathrm{R_{\text {instantaneous }}=\frac{d[B]}{d t}}
