The screening effect of inner electrons of the nucleus causes
A decrease in the ionisation potential
An increase in the ionisation potential
No effect on the ionisation potential
An increase in the attraction of the nucleus to the electrons
As we have learnt,
The inner electrons create a shield between the valence electrons and the nucleus. As a result, the effective nuclear charge felt by the valence electrons decreases. This leads to a decrease in the ionisation potential as it becomes easier to remove them from the force field of the nucleus due to a lessening in the effective nuclear charge.
