As we have learnt,

Magnetic Moments (spin only) is given as

\sqrt{n\left ( n+2 \right )} where n= number of the unpaired electron.

Number of unpaired e^{-} s and corresponding magnetic moments

\\1\rightarrow 1.7\\2\rightarrow 2.8\\3\rightarrow 3.9\\4\rightarrow 4.9\\5\rightarrow 5.9

Thus, for magnetic moment of 2.84 BM, the ion should contain two unpaired electrons

Only in d^{4} with strong field ligand number of unpaired electrons is two.

d^{4} with a weak ligand contains 4 unpaired electrons

d^{3} contains 3 unpaired electrons irrespective of the strength of the ligand

d^{5} with a strong ligand contains one unpaired electron while that with a weak ligand contains 5 unpaired electrons.

Therefore, option (1) is correct.
