R-C\equiv CH+AgNO_{3}\rightarrow R-C\equiv \bar{C}Ag^{+} (White PPT)

- wherein

Terminal Alkyne Present

 

 Terminal alkynes are more acid & they form 

R-C\equiv \bar{C}^{+} easily, so it can be detected by Tollen's reagent.
