As we know that the electric flux through a disc is given by - 

 

\\ \phi = \frac{q}{2 \varepsilon_0}(1- \frac{a}{\sqrt{a^2+R^2}}) \\ \\ If \ a \ tends \ to \ \infty then , \\ \\ \phi = \frac{q}{2 \varepsilon_0}(1- \frac{a}{a \sqrt{1+ \frac{R^2}{a^2}}}) \\ \\ \phi = \frac{q}{2 \varepsilon_0}(1 -1) = 0
